"Raku Essentials, No. 2" Brilliant color and eclectic, elegant shape dominate this dream collection of vibrant raku beads, wound from premium American and German glass in a dazzling array of rich, earthy colors and accented with jet black and sparkling crystal. This is an expanded edition of a similar collection I sold last month; I've added 3 additional designs to the mix, and this new "superstrand" features nearly 7 dozen beads in 8 different designs. The entire strand, including the seed-bead spacers, measures just over 4 feet in length. Please allow time for all the photos to load I really want you to see everything that's included, and how versatile and designer-friendly this collection is. Though the assortment of beads as pictured above seems artful and random, the concept behind the collection is actually very linear and involved a fair amount of planning. Essentially, this is a large set of beads composed of 8 smaller matched sets, each of which is distinctive enough to stand on its own but which also harmonizes perfectly with all of the other sets, so that the beads can be combined in countless different ways. As you'll see from the photos below, this "super set" is composed of the following smaller matched sets:
- 10 sleek focal lentils, raku on black, 19mm
- 10 handshaped rustic purple/raku barrels, average size 10mm
- 10 hand-shaped cube beads, raku on black, average size 12mm
- 10 "window" crystals, average size 14mm
- 10 tapered, crystal-encased disks, average size 6mm by 16mm
- 10 hand-shaped turquoise/raku nuggets, average size 12mm
- 10 elegant black/raku jeweled focal pillows, 18mm by 19mm
- 10 black/raku zulus, 18mm by 12mm
The design possibilities with these are practically endless; you've got everything you need here whether you're creating pendants, earrings or bracelets, and there are enough beads here for a lot of projects, especially if you plan to augment the lampwork beads with silver or other accent beads. You could probably knock out a large portion of your Christmas list with just this one set! The beads can be used in mixed groups, as shown above, or separated into smaller groups...for example, just 5 beads, either of the same design or of mixed designs, plus some additional silver or accent beads, would make a fantastic bracelet...and you'd still have enough beads left for NINE more...or 5-6 necklaces, or THIRTY pairs of earrings...see what I mean? Such wonderful possibilities with these; they're truly lovely, unique beads with lots of great texture and character, and you're going to have a blast designing with them. Great colors for fall, too! Thanks so much for looking!
